The brief was to deliver a series of apparel designs lines for Rip Curl surfwear, specifically sublimination yardage print designs for a range of boardshorts.

The products we make, the events we run, the riders we support and the people we reach globally are all part of the Search that Rip Curl is on. Rip Curl will continue to stick by the grass roots that helped make us the market leader in surfing, but we’ll also charge on in to the future and push riding to a new level. We know what we are doing and we will be around for a long time.
At a high level the apparel yardage print designs are for a high end range of technical boardshorts. The brief was to deliver something different that the internal design team wouldn’t usually deliver. Internal design teams can often stick to year on year, season on season evolution which can sometimes create a stereotype in themeing and style. Mixing up some design from external teams can supply a different influence and steer the creative direction into new directions which can assist in inspiring the internal design teams.

The Creative Director of Rip Curl in Torquay approached COG Design to deliver concepts and finished art.
